Houston is in love again with pro football
By Art Garcia HOUSTON -- The cardboard sign at a recent Houston Texans' game harkened back to a long-time love affair. One steeped in passion, betrayal and cast in a different hue. As much as the Oilers are still ingrained in Houston's football fabric, ...

robert griffin is the Heisman Winner

Baylor QB Robert Griffin III received the Heisman Trophy this evening, a bit of a surprise if you might not have been managing the shift in the particular voting leading up the headline. Andrew Luck has been the preseason favorite after foregoing the NFL final offseason, something we Panther enthusiasts took a little individual. But I don't publish this post to gloat about Luck dropping the trophy 2 yrs in a row (okay perhaps a little bit).

My true interest in this event may be the potential for Griffin to be about the draft board when the Panthers pick in up coming April's draft. The Panthers will need additional picks with this draft and Griffin could be just the bait to get a Panther trade back. Any team like the Cleveland browns, Bills or Seahawks could possibly be willing to deal to advance up and seize the potential franchise QB. I believe our own Cam Newton has demonstrated how a mobile QB will add a dimension that is certainly hard to defend supplying Griffin added value.

At this time draft pundits are all over the board in terms of where Griffin might use the draft. Cbs television studios sports has your pet as the #6 ranked prospective client (#3 QB). Of course that doesn't mean he will be drafted at that spot.

Draftek conversely doesn't even rank Griffin in the best 50. ESPN ranks Griffin #12. Walter Football thinks your Redskins will go for Griffin from #5 overall, probably any pick too early to the Panthers. On a slightly various note, I find it amusing that the pry apart drafter thinks the Jags will go QB again after having Blaine Gabbert at #10 in previous year's draft. He makes a good situation I must say.

FFToolbox has Griffin in #23. So it would seem in comparison with other prospects Griffin also comes in much lower than when considered where he could actually be drafted. That is to be expected with regard to QB's, especially those that could franchise's QBs. Hence the reason the actual Panthers just might get fortunate given there are Three or more and possibly 4 QBs to be drafted int he top 15: Luck, Barkley, Landry & Griffin).
